Use "Tell Us Once" to notify government in one step

Why it matters

A single free service notifies HMRC, DWP (pensions/benefits), the Passport Office, DVLA, and the local council — saving dozens of separate calls.

How to do it

1. Use the reference the registrar gives you (online or by phone).
2. Have to hand: their National Insurance number, date of birth, driving licence and passport numbers, and details of any benefits/pensions.
3. Note: Tell Us Once covers England, Wales and Scotland; Northern Ireland has separate arrangements (notify each body via nidirect) — ask the registrar.
