Notify banks, pensions, and insurers

Why it matters

Beyond Tell Us Once, private institutions need separate notice. Many banks share a single bereavement notification service.

How to do it

  1. Notify each bank/building society; many use the Death Notification Service (one form, multiple institutions).
  2. Contact private and workplace pension providers and any life insurers.
  3. Joint accounts usually pass to the survivor; sole accounts are frozen pending probate.
