Engage a funeral home (funeraria) — they handle most of the paperwork
Why it matters
In Spain the funeraria does the heavy lifting: registry filing, transport, and the burial/cremation licence are usually arranged through them.
How to do it
- Check first for funeral insurance (seguro de decesos) — very common in Spain and may already cover everything with a specific provider.
- If covered, call that insurer first; they assign the funeraria.
- Get a written, itemised quote. You are not obliged to take every add-on.
