Burial/cremation licence (licencia de enterramiento o incineración)

Why it matters

Burial or cremation cannot legally happen without it, and there is a minimum wait after death.

How to do it

1. The funeraria arranges this through the Civil Registry.
2. There is normally a minimum 24-hour wait between death and burial/cremation — set by each region, so it can differ (e.g. Galicia allows 12h), and it is longer if a forensic examination is pending.
