Memorialize or close online and social accounts
Why it matters
Dormant accounts can be hijacked, and active profiles can be painful for loved ones. Most major platforms have a process for the deceased.
How to do it
- List known accounts: email, Facebook/Instagram, Apple/Google, banking apps, cloud photos.
- Facebook and Instagram can be "memorialized" or removed; Google has Inactive Account Manager; Apple has Legacy Contact / Digital Legacy.
- Secure email first — it is the reset key to everything else.
